Being born with the "gift" of being an "artist" or "pure stupidity"

Some time ago I wrote this note, tired, tired to read on social networks, comments from children and not so young, talking about their "art", their "work", as if they were "chosen" who will leave their "legacy" so that the common denominator of mortals, humanity, will be "light up his deep wisdom and kiss his footsteps on the earth"

But when you are young you already know: We are immortal, omnipresent, awesome.

And we were all young once.

But the most ridiculous thing is to see poses of outdated old people, who believe they are still young, histrionic decrepit, painters of half hair, old ridiculous, with scarf tied to the neck and hat, hangover of seductive failure, conquerors of nothingness, of affected pose, with its characteristic face of chronic constipation, looking towards the horizon, scrutinizing the ortho of the sun.

These have as consolation, and to their greatest shame, the self-indulgence of “self-proclaimed artists” In addition to his fantasy, to possess eternal youth and not a big prostate problem.

The monologue of an idiot.

Many years ago, When I was just starting to live off this, I was at a fair called “The Market of Miracles”, then a person comes up to me and says:

– Do you make these portraits?

– Yes.

– I'm an artist.- Comment.

– Ah.

– I've been an artist since I was six.

– Ahá.

–But my brother, he's been an artist since he was three.

He stands in front of a portrait that he had as a sample, looks at it, scratches it with his fingernail, and says:

–This is charcoal, right?

I looked at him and left.

After a while, when I returned, the salesman next to me told me:

–You've gone and left him talking to himself?

– What can I tell you? I told my showmate … that he's been an artist since he was six and his brother was three.

What parents have not given their child some waxes or pencils to leave them alone?

And also, if he really is an artist, he would recognize the charcoal from a distance, without having to come close to scratching with his nail and ruining the show.

You're just a man

Marcus Aurelius, andThe great Roman emperor had a slave for a very particular function.

When the emperor went out for a walk in the city and the people acclaimed him, his slave's job was to whisper to his ear: –You're just a man

I thought about doing this blog, with techniques and tutorials, especially what has been learned over the years.

But I was wrong., I didn't realize that I'm surrounded by so much ‘high artist’ that He doesn't need, nor does he want to learn.

I thought at the time, that imbecility would be fleeting, but participating in groups on social networks, I see that it is increasing.

They not only gloat about the popular belief, that "that's what you're born with" or that Some God has bestowed upon him a gift.

There are many who have really convinced themselves of this.

One of the fundamental things to master this trade is to subdue our ego.

He submits by lowering it to the ground, being very self-critical, knowing that every finished work is one more, a step towards the other, and only that, nothing more than that.

Marcus Aurelius "The Wise", Emperor of Rome (the last of those considered "good emperors") tells the story that he liked to walk, through the streets of the city where he was hailed and cheered by the people as a "semi god".

The emperor, Marcus Aurelius, was always accompanied by a slave, several steps back, who when the praises were increasing, discreetly approached the ruler and whispered in his ear: –You're just a man, you're just a man

The woman with spikes in her hair.

We are born and from a young age we are showing a certain predilection for some things; some sports, others draw, paint, mechanics, carpentry, until one day we choose what to do.

If I had liked mechanics, it would be mechanical, but no, I devoted myself to drawing.

Is it because I like drawing? Or is it too simple and earthly a reason?

While my friends were playing football, I was in my wonderful solitude, drawing Batman.

It was like this, until one day, when I felt unable to do certain things, I asked my parents to send me to study drawing and painting, and that's when I realized, that of that, I knew nothing.

If it were for the times I drew roles in my life, I could say that I have been an artist since I was born, but the reality was different.

Reality gave me full in the face, to show me, that of inspirations nothing and without any study, worse still.

My family, back then, praised my drawings; At school I was one of the two who drew well, but one day, who was my painting teacher, Telma, He modeled me, a bas-relief that was a woman's head, with spikes in her hair.

The truth is that, since I had stepped on his workshop, the bas-relief had caught my attention and I claimed almost from the first moment, that I wanted and would be able to draw it.

So a couple of years later, the day had come.

Once finished, I showed it to him, he looked at it and said:– It's wrong, do it again.

It gave me a lot of anger, and I did it again, once finished, he looked at it and told me it was wrong, to do it again, so I did it again.

I was thirteen years old and I had been learning with her for two years, it was totally unacceptable, an offense, a great offense, I had to repeat the same drawing twice.

He made me repeat it seven times.

In the end, he looked at me smiling and said:

–The first one was already well

– And why did you make me repeat it seven times?

–So you can lower your ego.– answered me.

After several classes drawing the same head, I left with the lesson well learned, not only had I attacked my ego, I had "shown" it had sat in front of me, while drawing, and watched me.

The one who judged my drawing was him, he had taken control, without letting me see what he was doing and assuming that what he was doing was great, insurmountable.

The seventh head, it was somewhat better than the other six, for the simple reason, that I had repeated the same model seven times, and that voice that told me ‘you are insurmountable’ I had been led to believe that the first was ‘a work of art’

From that day on, I distrust my abilities.

And when he shows up sitting in front of me, I hate him so much, I'd like to kill him.

Art and the "Artists"

A "work of art" is only one that passes the test of time.

Then they'll tell me: – But there are many living, very famous ‘artists’ who exhibit and are highly valued. If so, don't they make works of art?

Some yes, some no.

The ‘art market’ It's another matter. Currently you can,» manufacture products» sellable, according to market interests. "Art" is one of the most profitable and safest investments.

You can sell almost anything as such, without being, you can ‘inflation’ of a quotation, as if it were shares.

Counted Avelina Lesper, that an "artist" sold a lot of heaped branches.

She asked him if he bought them (I think they were about $20,000) if he could take them home, to which the "artist" replied no.

That he would issue him a certificate, signed by him, by which he was entitled to pile a number of branches, in a number of square meters, determined by him.

I'm an artist.

Social network capture

The screenshot that accompanies this text, belongs to an "artist" , shows as someone, He considers himself a chosen one, a superior being, because according to him, he believes that he was born with a "gift."

What does it matter if you are an "artist"? Do you believe it? Who told you you are? Have you yourself ruled that because you draw something or paint something, you are an artist? What's the value of what you paint? What does what you do contribute? Do you think what you draw would stand the test of time? Do you think you are a "superior being"?

This lie of "gift" has been widely used by painters and gallerists to sell paintings that would otherwise be worth nothing, absolutely nothing.

This, along with an altisonanate explanation of a painting, like one that said more or less:I painted a vase, for the vase contains water, and water is life.

When we come across this, it's an unmistakable sign that someone is going to be scammed.

True art reaches people without needing to be explained.

To the public you'll like it or you won't like it, that simple.

An authentic work of art, you should not need a GPS, to know what you are speaking.

The cave "gift".

Some say that the men who made the cave paintings would have been admired by their tribes.

They would have been given a special place within their group because of the ‘magical’ ease of drawing and painting.

As in all belief, ignorance plays a very important role.

Then yes, they would think that the God, or the gods, would have given them "an added value." They would have been treated with some fear and respect.

And here they will say to me:

But there are many people who paint and draw and never manage to be good.

Yes, some may cost more than others, but if they really like it and don't give up, with study and a lot of practice is always achieved. This is an earthly and mortal “office”.

They also spoke of the "ability to create" as if this were something unique, owned by the self-proclaimed "artists with heavenly gift."

He said a "genius" of these, who had made a writing and ‘reflected’ and tried remember what "age" he had realized: – ‘…o rather, they, (the mortals) knew that he was gifted for painting. -(Textual) "discovered" and continues: – …the story is full of geniuses

Creation.

If you want to proclaim yourself an artist possessing a special gift, to create, change your speech, because you will fall right away.

A pastry chef creates all the time whether in his recipes, as in the decoration of his cakes, someone who makes knitted fabric, too, or who makes bolillo lace, a humorist, an architect, a comic book writer, a film writer, a builder, a manicure, a carpenter … and could list professions that "create", even boredom. So the thing about you being an artist for creating, that you're "a special being" for it, It doesn't curdle.

And on the other hand, if they are "beings who were already born with that" Why, they go to drawing and painting classes, if they were already born known?

The ego.

The "traps" in which our ego puts us, they are spectacular.

To such an extent, that I have seen photographs of "painters" who barely know their mother, in ridiculous, archaic poses, in reflexive, serious, tragic expression, trying to "transmit" their "greatness" and existentialist concern, for "the future of humanity"

Because you are a painter, do you have to take pictures with a chronic constipation face, looking at the horizon all the time?

And in terms of techniques and materials. If you have ‘born with it’ You will handle all materials perfectly and all techniques perfectly. Or do you need someone to teach you for it?

Ah, that you prefer such material and such a technique …bien … "but you are a great artist" do not forget, you dominate everything, because "you were born with that"

And your "work," enlightens humanity, changes something, does … say something?

The ego will lead you easily, into a void, where you will never be good, because you think you are good, and you will never be anyone, because you think you are someone.

The most you can become is "The artist of friends and family" (who will never tell you the truth)

Telma.

Personally I consider myself a guy who works in this, drawing and painting, it is my job and I do not completely master it, I do not know everything.

My "work" … will surely end up in the container closest to where he lives when his time comes.

Telma Paroli of Acerboni, who was my drawing and painting teacher said to me one day:The first 20 years, you'll be an aspiring draughtsman and painter, the second 20 years, you'll be an apprentice draughtsman and painter, the third 20 years, you'll be a draughtsman and painter, and the fourth 20, if you get there, you'll be an artist, as long as people say you are, Not because you believe it.
