Graphic and political humor

A political cartoon is one that reflects, criticizes or ridicules an act carried out by a representative of the political class., national or international, whether mayors, presidents, magistrates, i.e. any person who is linked to and representative of a political party, or their acts and decisions affect the life of a country, or region.

Many years ago, I drew for some publications, when even the internet did not exist.

At that time I was dedicated to political humor, in addition to press releases, interviews, research notes and some story. But I've always been interested in politics, and above all take it with humor. I found in the political satire how to show discontent, people's discrepancy and mine. It's just that we depend on her, or maybe you could say we're like hostages to her. And when I talk about politics, I don't mean any politician in particular, nor politicians in general. And while Some of these piss us off, some of them steal from us., there are still honest politicians, with a true vocation of service.

That's why, we should differentiate policies, ideas, programmes, from which we can choose, of those who promote them. The lie is the order of the day, the truth is that many deceive in their proposals and use fallacies, to get support, and stay in power. The normal thing is that they put us against each other, making us believe that the "enemy to beat" is at our side, and that the struggle between social classes is something of the past, that it does not exist, that it is an archaic thought, even if those who say that, speak all the time of the middle class, and upper middle class and its crises.

We carry politics inside.

Since we get up and think about where to go for bread, we are practicing it. We choose, to which bakery or supermarket, our money will go. Who we're going to support, who we're going to trust. And throughout our life riddled with choices we practice it. They also practice it with us, they move us from one side to another, like cattle, according to the "general welfare" some seek benefits for a certain social class, or para themselves.

Some clearly point to the enemy, and among the worst threats are graphic humorists.

Santiago Abascal. Threats to "Thursday" Published in The Digital Thinker

As I count in my biography my first problems started already in school, with ‘Incorrect’ drawings according to the military dictatorship that I had to live. And they didn't end up there, it was just the beginning of others.

This kind of humor, it's addictive, and even though at a certain point I decided to quit, I couldn't give up, it's irresistible..

Within politics are the forgotten, It is these who pay the debts of the State, the loans granted to banks, to large companies, to corporations. The paradox is that they always pay the debts themselves. And their consequences too, these great "payers" are the ones who have the least. The political class lives another reality, and it is not parallel. Some look the other way and others look at their own interests. Few look down.

That is why I decided to resume graphic humor, it is a tiny possibility, a very small attempt to give voice to those who are denied, to unravel what is hidden behind manipulated news, of rude handling of public opinion, by some means of "communication", as when the same news is repeated again and again until we are fed up, hiding or ignoring others, of great social affectation.

Despite all this, the opposite of politics and its politicians is dictatorship, and the latter is not a good option. It is best to become aware of where and where we stand. It is according to some an old-fashioned, old-fashioned concept. It's called class consciousness.

I leave you here, one of my last drawings for The Digital Thinker, on the labour market, the Law of Labor and Junk Employment.
