How I made the back cover of Sant Rock
Look around you, look closely. Many times the answers are where you least imagine them. The small details, the moments, what goes unnoticed. It is always alert, attentive to what happens around you because if you are looking for something you do not find, you should not rest until you get it, because the simplest, and most obvious things, will pass in front of you, and you will not have noticed.
After all the weekend in Goat, Cordoba, It was our last night. Sometimes it's funny how things happen. I had planned to make this fanzine for a long time, but I could not find an idea of how to make it, how to do it in an attractive way, or what to put in it.
Within the huge number of famous bands and singers that exist, I did not decide who to draw (in addition to those I already had for a long time)
I needed a cover, but what about the back cover? We were talking about Rock & POP, so if the cover would be from a rock band or musician, the counter cover should be from the POP.
We were staying at the Villa Maria a small and very nice hotel, very close to the Goat Library. When we arrived we went up to the room. Actually we had barely been to the hotel, so it occurred to us to go down to the bar for a drink.
The bar, has a large interior terrace, and also has tables across the street, in the park Alcantara Romero. We opted for the interior terrace. It was quite lively, there were all the parishioners chatting, playing cards, and there was a younger boy, who put videos of Youtube on a huge TV they had in that place. Metallica, ACDC, Motörhead, Ramones, etc.
Almost everyone was unhappy with the music. They told him to take those things away, that they couldn't play cards with all that noise.
That's when the kid came to our table and addressing us asked the terrible question: – And to you who are guests: What would you like to hear?
Almost without thinking we answered: – Bonney M
And we get kicked out of here. – That is what we think.
Rivers of Babylon, Ma Baker, Rasputin, Daddy Coool…There came a time when everyone went silent and the card games ceased, everyone hypnotized watching the TV and the incredible movements of the wonderful, fantastic and inimitable Bobby Farrell.
They began to tell us stories of when they had gone to see Bonney M, to this or that place, anecdotes of that time, the trips to the concerts, how they dressed and how much more hair they had.
We were all ecstatic with Bonney M. At one point, we found that whoever attended the bar, was by our side, also a big fan of that group.
Since we were tired, it was time to leave, and there we left them reminiscing about old times. But many standing, with the cup in hand and with the typical movement, that without moving the feet of the place, you flex one of the knees to the rhythm of the music.
We never knew if there was a dance afterwards. Which is for sure, that unforgettable night, gave me something I had been looking for for a long time. My back cover, for Sant Rock.
