About the Spanish Association of Cartoonists

OPINION

Another year and more of the same of these "Dignifiers of Cartoonist Work" throwing prices on the ground to "dignify" (a somewhat strange way of giving dignity) and without "obtaining any gain" (as they say) in the Comic Hall of Valencia.

The Tale, of the Cartoon Chiringuito, they do so as follows: With this initiative we want to value and promote the caricature, making a demonstration of live caricatures

They prove something, if you pay for it, of course.

So last year's note, it's still in effect.

OPINION ON: The so-called "Spanish Association of Cartoonists"

As usual, I will say my opinion on this meeting, or plasta, called "association".

Opinion, which is nothing original, is simply what many know and think, (which people do not know) and that no one says, because it seems that saying it "is wrong"

The association says that:

The AEC was born with the aim of supporting and promoting cartoon artists, dignifying and promoting this art in our country.

Of course I tell you that "dignify" leftovers.

How do they work?

It's been my turn to run into this so-called partnership in a couple of places.

When they work in salons or fairs, there are several members who will draw, because that allows them to absorb as many audiences as possible. Hoard as many people as possible.

But in addition, to ensure, even more their success, they throw the price of the cartoons on the floor.
They lower the price in order to capture, cover the largest number of people and thus, raise the largest amount of money.

Which we all want, but many of us do not hide behind an association, under the pretext of "spreading and dignifying" Especially with the lie of "dignifying"

Dignify the profession of caricaturist

It is not dignified with balance prices. Neither the client, will give value to something, which means, a drawing for "nothing". In my opinion, "dignify and promote" has nothing.

The only possible promotion, is to show, that our trade It's worthless.

Of course, we are the ones who do NOT belong to this association, because in addition to the payment of space (stand), that the "association" does not pay and we also pay our freelancers, which those who are going to draw on the part of the "association", have no obligation to do so, for that they are "association" together or emplaste.

Those who do not integrate that group, (nor will we integrate it) can not absorb so much public, nor can we work at market prices, because there are bills to pay and more when some of these are with the state.

They also say that: Participation in events, exhibitions, exhibitions, fairs, etc.

The AEC participates in various national fairs in which its partners carry out live caricature demonstrations and thanks to which the general public can make contact with our profession in a direct, close and enjoyable way

"Demonstrations" paying. For each drawing, the customer pays. So "demonstration" has nothing.

These "demonstrations" are based on what I have already said: monopolize the public and lower both the trade and the price.

Why?

Because they call themselves a non-profit association.

That, "non-profit" also spares.

POWERING THE CLEAREST THINGS

When I published the note about the so-called "association of Spanish cartoonists" that says it is not for profit, many people have been upset.
One of them told me that I have no idea of his "altruistic work"

I still get those messages today. So let's clarify what they mean by "altruism" and work "non-profit"

On the very page of the Salon del Comic de Valencia, he says it very clearly: ‘under no circumstances may commercial shares be sold or developed within the assigned space’

Attached to this is a screenshot where it says that they are invited, that is, they do not pay, and therefore they can not charge for the drawings they make there.
Which they do.

That's his idea of work. ‘altruistic’

And about the conditions of the associations invited to the salon, you can check it on its page: https://www.saloncomicvalencia.com/exponer/
